   What should every new team leader do from the beginning to ensure a strong foundation for their team?

Have a strong set of core values. “What do you stand for?” That’s key. You’ve got to have a vision that’s driven by what you stand for. If you don’t know what you stand for, how will recruits know where you’re going or if they believe in what you stand for?

    What are three things that help your team be successful that others can duplicate?

Brand is number one. I know that no matter what happens, whenever there’s disruption, that’s the one thing that people can’t take away from you is your brand.

Second to that is your people, the agents and employees that support your brand and hold your values. If you ask someone to name a real estate office in Minnesota, I think they’d name us. Our brand and our people are recognizable and trusted, and that’s something we have developed that others can’t take from us.

Third is the culture of your office. There’s a reason everyone likes to talk about the importance of culture: Because it’s important. Your core values create the environment for your employees. Our number one core value is to Be Generous. Helping charities and giving back, that’s extremely important on The Lindahl Team.

    What was the number one thing you learned at the Teams Event last year?

If I had to pick one thing, it was being around other successful people and hearing what their successes and struggles are. I always like to learn where people are struggling and think, “Does that apply to my business? What can I do to prevent or solve that?”

It’s nice to hear different perspectives from people who have been where you are. Whether you’re an agent or broker, and no matter what stage you’re at in thinking of building your team, the challenges are the same when you’re dealing with people.

    Who would you say should attend the event – and why?

Anyone in the RE/MAX brand interested in teams should attend. There’s value for all parties. Yes there’s value for team leaders and brokers, of course. But there’s also value for agents.

You might be an individual agent, not part of a team but have thought about joining a team and want to hear what teams are about. You might be an agent that wants to start a team, maybe you have too many opportunities and not enough systems in place to take advantage of those opportunities. This event is going to teach you those first steps.

Having more education around teams means having a better pulse on the market. I really believe that The Ultimate RE/MAX Teams Event can appeal to the masses.

    What will you be discussing on your panel?

What I like to talk about is the mistakes I’ve made, and the adjustments I’ve made along the way to fix those mistakes. Learning from a mistake is so critical – being able to pivot and adjust only makes you stronger.
