CEO Adam Contos emailed this message to U.S. Associates the morning of February 27:
We have exciting news to share with you today.
RE/MAX is making a bold shift in technology strategy – a step toward delivering even better tech solutions that create a distinct competitive edge for RE/MAX brokerages and agents.
To that end, I’m thrilled to announce that RE/MAX, LLC has acquired a real estate technology company called booj.
Booj, an award-winning real estate web development and software firm, will retain its name and current location about eight miles from RE/MAX Headquarters. Booj (“be original or jealous”) has an impressive 12-year track record and powers the technology for a network of 40 independent brokerages across the U.S.
The 77-member staff at booj includes some of the premier technology developers and strategists in real estate. These are brilliant people sharply focused on the best technology of today and tomorrow.
Product development moving forward will be very collaborative. It will involve a powerful mix: the booj team’s talents, experience and product foundation; the ideas of key players from various groups at HQ; the input of other strategic partners; and, most importantly, the thoughts of frontline agents, brokers and regional leaders across the network. The result is a dynamic new process – scalable and repeatable – bringing together the best technology minds in the RE/MAX universe.
Ultimately, this will mean better tools for the modern age – covering everything from websites and mobile apps to productivity tools and content-rich systems for generating, cultivating and managing leads. It will mean an upgrade for the RE/MAX technology suite – a complement to other Approved Supplier products you choose to use.
You’ll hear much more about booj and the future of RE/MAX technology later today during the R4 Opening General Session. (If you’re not attending R4, you can stream the show live on RE/MAX University beginning at 8:30 AM Pacific Time.) After R4, we’ll keep you informed every step of the way.
In terms of specific tools, nothing is changing overnight. So, for now, continue to maximize the current tech products and platforms. Keep training on them! At the same time, start thinking about enhancements and capabilities you’d like to see added to your toolbox. You’ll definitely have a chance to weigh in during the collaborative process. Watch for updates.
Here’s the bottom line on all this: RE/MAX is the most productive network in the world. Just imagine what will happen when the best agents have the best technology. As we like to say, the sky’s the limit.
