Here’s the Best Way to Break Into Asian Real Estate Opportunities

It couldn’t be a better time for global minded real estate agents to start looking at Asia.

In 2017, not only did 47.2% of all offshore acquisitions in the US originate from Asia, China surpassed the U.S. as the top cross border investor worldwide with $25.6B USD invested globally. The U.S. is still the top destination for Asian capital.

The best way to leverage these new opportunities in the Asian market? Register now for the 2018 RE/MAX Asia Pacific Convention, 27-29 August in Seoul, South Korea.

Jan Repa, Executive Director for RE/MAX Global Development, shares four more reasons to attend the event.

1: You’ll meet the right people

Success in real estate is largely based on the handshake. It’s about who knows you when there is a buyer or seller in your area. Last year, there were Affiliates from 25 countries in attendance. You have the chance to meet these Affiliates – representing clients in the Asia/Pacific Region as well as the Americas, Europe, Middle East and Africa – face-to-face. It’s a big deal. And could mean a great deal for your business.”

2: There is something for everyone

You’ll hear from a variety of amazing speakers, whose goal is to increase your knowledge base, help you take your production to the next level, and motivate you to go for what you want. Sessions will cover everything from how to grow your regional business to perfecting personal promotion and branding. There will be listing and buyer presentation tips, team building and much more, plus forums, events and plenty of opportunities to network and have a great time!”

3: Seoul is an amazing, bucket list-worthy destination

As one of the biggest cities in the world with a thriving economy, Seoul has so much to offer in terms of history, Korean culture, modern life, shopping, dining and more. There is so much to see and do in this wonderful city, and the convention has included some of these experiences for attendees.

And thanks to the Seoul Metro subway, it’s easy for attendees to explore the city, such as the Myeongdong Shopping district, the amazing Changdeokgung or Gyeongbokgung Palaces, the War Memorial or Namdaemun shopping market.

The first 200 registrants of this year’s convention are invited to a dinner cruise, where they will be able to network while enjoying famous Korean BBQ. A bus trip to the Gangnam – the Beverly Hills of Seoul – is also part of the agenda, as well as an optional trip to the demilitarized zone on the border of the two Koreas.”

4: You’ll expand your horizons

Don’t be afraid to leave your comfort zone! I’ve always believed that traveling is really about having courage. If you’re traveling to South Korea for the first time, you have the opportunity to see new places, meet new people, enjoy new cuisines and, most importantly, establish new business and personal relationships to last a lifetime. Some of the most successful RE/MAX Affiliates are those that take advantage of the RE/MAX events held around the world. Remember, it’s all about the handshake.”

Travel Tip: Getting to Seoul

Seoul is accessible from the Incheon International Airport – one of the best airports in the world! – via a very comfortable shuttle bus called an “Airport Limousine Bus.” If you’re flying into Gimpo International Airport, it’s much closer to the Seoul Dragon City venue.

There are many direct flights from the U.S. and Canada to Seoul. U.S. and Canadian citizens are not required to have a tourist or business visa to travel to South Korea. Affiliates from other locations should visit to determine their visa requirements.

The Seoul Dragon City hotel complex is located in the Yongsan district and hosts four brands in the same building. Rooms average from $99 USD to $179 USD per night.”

“When I attended my first RE/MAX Asia Pacific Conference in Bangkok, I was amazed to bond with so many high-energy and enthusiastic affiliates representing countries from around the world. Now, those same people are some of my closest friends, and part of my trusted overseas referral network. We introduce each other to clients and evaluate deals in different time zones at a moment’s notice! I feel totally blessed and fully support anyone’s initiative to just attend this year’s APC in Seoul, Korea!”

While we do have a lot of differences in culture and the manner in which we conduct our business, we are embraced together by one dynamic organization, RE/MAX. It's such a joy seeing agents gather on this side of the world.

“The Asia Pacific Convention means global networking, international cooperation talks, exchange of experiences with RE/MAX colleagues from all over Asia, but also other countries around the world. I am glad that I was able to take part in this event in August 2017 in Gold Coast, Australia, and I will definitely not miss the next one.”
